Enable Ireland Cork Children’s Centre Appeal
Enable Ireland provides services to 5,500 children and adults with disabilities from 40 locations in 14 counties. Their services for children and their families cover all aspects of a child’s physical, educational, and social development from early infancy through adolescence. Here in Cork, Enable Ireland provides support services to over 670 children from its Children’s Services Centre ‘The Lavanagh Centre’ in Ballintemple. These services include physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, early year’s education, psychology and social work. Founded in 1954, this building is no longer suitable for the needs of children with disabilities. Having purchased a seven acre site in Curraheen and received planning permission for a new state of the art Children’s Centre, Enable Ireland is appealing to communities and companies to support them in their appeal to make this project a reality. They have been fundraising actively for the new centre in Curraheen and in 2017 received government backing and HSE support and have now raised over 5million euro towards the build costs and have 1.75million euro left to raise.
